Athletic Director for Men's Sports John W. Montgomery, II

John W. Montgomery, II is in his second year as athletic director for men's sports at Langston University. A native of Poteau, Oklahoma Montgomery attended Prairie View A&M University on a football scholarship. He later transferred to Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Physical Education. He is a person who likes working with young people.

Montgomery began his career in athletics coaching kickers and with the weight training program at Oklahoma State University in 1976. Since that time he has gained valuable experience at Alabama A&M University, Wichita State University, Howard University, University of Pittsburgh and Texas A&M University. He also has coached at University of Nevada Los Vegas , Southern University and was the offensive coordinator for the Langston University Lions football team that went to the NAIA National Playoffs in 1993. He has recruited student-athletes from California to Maryland and from Illinois to Mississippi. Montgomery has extensive contacts in the athletic and business arenas having organized the first Langston Coaching Clinic with guest speakers from nationally acclaimed NCAA Division I football programs. During the last year Montgomery has secured contract guarantees and private donations of approximately $100,000. Part of which went to establish the Roy & Jeanne Reed Learning Resource Center for the Academic Assistance of Langston University Student Athletes (Computer Lab).

Montgomery is very active in his church and has been asked to be guest speaker at many community occasions. He enjoys spending time with his wife Andrea and his two sons John III and Mildren. Montgomery's hobbies include fishing and writing music.



Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Sean Gillotte

Coach Gillotte Sean Gillotte is in his third year as the strength and conditioning coach for Langston University varsity athletics. Coach Gillotte came to Langston University from the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs where he served as an intern. Prior to working at the Training Center Coach Gillotte spent a year and a half working as a graduate assistant strength coach at Purdue University. While at Purdue he worked with football, softball, men's and women's golf, baseball, wrestling and track & Field. He also spent a year at Indiana State University as a graduate assistant strength coach working with football, man's and women's basketball, softball and women's tennis. Before completing his undergraduate degree Gillotte did an undergraduate intern of the University of Wyoming's strength and conditioning staff working with football, volleyball, wrestling, men's and women's basketball and track & field.

Coach Gillotte received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1997 and the Masters of Science in Physical Education from Indiana State University in 1999. Coach Gillotte is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through that organization.

As Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Gillotte is responsible for designing programs that fit each sports needs. They include football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track & field and cross-country. He also works with Langston University athletes that have completed their athletic eligibility and are working to further their athletic careers.

The Langston University Strength & Conditioning Program incorporates various training modalities to prepare our student-athletes to perform and the highest level possible. These modalities include Olympic and Power lifting, plyometrics, core training, flexibility, speed/agility training, and conditioning. All training techniques and programs are designed to enhance athletic performance and prevent injuries during competition. In addition to physical training, student-athletes are also educated on proper nutrition in order to obtain a high level of training with each session. All student-athletes are given a daily workout designed to enhance their level of performance in their respective sports. Through these techniques and the level of commitment from our student-athletes the strength and conditioning program has become an important aspect of Langston University Athletics.



Pam Fisher Athletic Secretary

Pam Fisher Pam Fisher is in her third year as secretary for the Department of Athletics. She is a 1994 graduate of Langston University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Gerontology. Ms. Fisher works closely with the men's and women's athletic directors and plays an important role in maintaining records of purchase orders, travel and general athletic communications.
