Mission Statement
Langston University, a land-grant institution with an urban mission,
is an integral part of the Oklahoma State System for Higher Education.
Designated as a special purpose university by the State Regents for
Higher Education, Langston University is charged with the responsibility
to provide both lower-division and upper-division undergraduate study
in several fields leading to the bachelor's degree. In this context,
Langston University has moved to curricular changes that will embrace
new career opportunities for its students with positive educational
outcomes.
A goal of Langston University is to place its graduates in a highly
favorable position to assume careers that meet the changing demands

JOB TITLE: CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY COUNSELOR
NATURE
OF POSITION: Counseling students
with personal problems; conducting workshops and seminars; writing
proposals for external funding; serving as advisor for student organizations
such as BACCHUS (Boost Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health
of University Students) and HIV Peer Educators; and providing in-service
programs for faculty and staff.
DUTIES
AND RESPONDIBILTIES: Counseling students from the general
campus population, including students with chemical dependency problems.
Develop proposals for submission to mental health agencies. Assume
leadership for the continuing implementation of the University’s
Drug Free School and Drug Free Workplace policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years experience
in a university counseling center or community mental health center.
Experience in writing proposals for submission to NIMH, CSAP, NIH
and other mental health oriented agencies.
SALARY: Commensurate
with qualifications and experience.
