Statement
Langston University
A land-grant institution with an urban
mission, is an integral part of the Oklahoma State System for Higher
Education. Designated as a special purpose university by the State
Regents for Higher Education, Langston University is charged with the
responsibility to provide both lower-division and upper-division
undergraduate study in several fields leading to the bachelor's degree.
In this context, Langston University has moved to curricular changes
that will embrace new career opportunities for its students with
positive educational outcomes.
A goal of Langston
University is to place its graduates in a highly favorable position to
assume careers that meet the changing demands in the urban society
today and in the future. This is to be achieved by demanding a high
degree of excellence in its instruction, research, and community
services as a land-grant institution with an urban mission. Flexibility
in academic of Langston University students is implied in this mission
statement. The dynamics of a free society predict the evolution of new
challenges and new opportunities; thus a significant part of Langston
University's thrust is to keep abreast of programs and community
services utilizing human resources and new technologies emerging on the
horizon.

POSITION TITLE: Recruitment/Admission Counselor (Hispanic Recruiter)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics, character & growth in order to improve individual competence and skills consistent with the University and professional standards. 2. Prompt attendance and Record time and attendance daily. 3. Recruit Hispanic students. 4. Develop, coordinate, and execute the institution’s Hispanic Student Recruitment Program. 5. Identify and develop relationships with counselors and principals of high school and counselors of community colleges, both in-state and out-of-state, that have a high populations of Hispanic students. 6. Represent Langston University at college fairs that focus on Hispanic high school and community college students. 7.Coordinate the development of marketing material such as brochures designed to attract Hispanic students to Langston University. 8. Market Langston University to Hispanic groups such as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, etc. 9. Produce measurable results. 10. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree is required. The ability to demonstrate proficiency in Spanish, both verbally and written.

POSITION TITLE: Administrative
Assistant/LU/OKC HUD/HBCU Programs
NATURE OF JOB: Responsible for initiating
and coordinating the clerical and secretarial functions required for
effective implementation of office duties and maintenance; work with
staff, faculty, and students through professional interactions and
effective communication.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer and
direct phone calls; manage office work flow, assist with purchases
request; arrange travel for director; oversight in preparation of

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Two or more
years experience of working with federal programs and knowledge of
Microsoft 2000 or EP Environments. Ability to handle multiple tasks

POSITION TITLE: Vice President for Academic
Affairs
POSITION OVERVIEW: Academic Administration-Higher
Education: Carry out and enforce academic policies and regulations.
Provide leadership in the further enhancement of the Urban Mission.
Reports directly to the President on matters relating to the
academic program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Articulate the
University’s vision and help move Langston University to the next
level of academic distinction. Provide leadership in developing high
quality academic programs, general education core, and an excellent
overall educational experience. Advise the President on all academic
affairs, work collegially with faculty, staff and others in a spirit
of shared governance. Assign and supervise work-load and schedules
of academic personnel. Prepare annual reports, schedules of classes,
academic calendars and reports for various accrediting agencies.
Coordinate all academic conferences, in-service programs, the
implementation of the Urban Mission, and the academic calendar of
events and communicate these activities to all faculty and
professional staff. Work with Associate Vice Presidents for Academic
Affairs, Deans and Directors on the Following: 1. Evaluation and
continual improvement of curricular offerings. 2. Evaluation of
academic personnel for recommendation for Appointment, tenure or
termination. 3. Allocation and supervision of Resources in all
Academic Units. 4. Short and long range planning. Perform other
related duties As requested by the President.
QUALIFICATIONS: A strong record of leadership with
the ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, and act
decisively. Integrate emerging technologies in the academic arena. A
commitment to academic excellence, including quality teaching,
research, and service to the community. Full-time college-level
teaching experience with accomplishments as a teacher and scholar.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to
stimulate collaborative partnerships (both internal and external to
the University). Candidate should have an earned doctoral degree and
credentials to merit tenure as a full professor in an academic
discipline offered at the university.
Help promote a campus climate that fosters
multicultural student growth and development. Have administrative
experience and knowledge of higher education institutions. Must have
the ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, fairly,
concisely and effectively in written and oral forms and in informal
settings.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s degree in
Nursing. Preferred areas of education emphasis: Nursing
Leadership-Adult Health Nursing. Licensure or eligibility for
licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma; two years
recent clinical experience as RN; previous teaching experience.
Desired: Doctorate degree. Previous BSN teaching experience; recent
Nursing Leadership and Research and/or community health experience.
Special requirements or physical limitations: Excellent written and
oral communication skills, ability to perform the essential skills
and competencies of a Registered Nurse.

POSITION TITLE: Cashier II (LU-Tulsa)
NATURE OF JOB: Responsible for receiving,
disbursing, custody and recording of large amounts of cash. Assist
students with their financial records. As needed, assist students
with admission and enrollment under the direction of Coordinator of
Admissions and Enrollment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.) Receive cash and
checks 2.) Verify amounts, issue change 3.) Issue checks and
prepares receipts, bank deposit slips, cash reports 4.) Verifies
reports for accuracy and file students’ records 5.) Serves as backup
for enrollment services 6.) other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: One to Two years
responsible experience as a Cashier or Teller dealing with cash
transactions and basic cashier functions. Desired: Bachelor’s degree
and knowledge of Touch- Net, SCT or similar systems. Special
requirements or physical limitations: Flexibility during peak work
periods. Some overtime could be required. Customer service skills in
working with students, faculty, staff and general public required.
