We’ve Got a New Home

Construction for Phase 1 in Tulsa for the new Langston University campus is complete. Likewise, the new health professions building at the Langston campus is complete. This growth and expansion provide tremendous opportunities for you to assist currently enrolled and future students. Through the Langston University Foundation, you can make tax-deductible contributions to our scholarship or book fund, or you may prefer to name a room, office or laboratory in honor of someone special.

Mission:
The mission of the Langston University School of Nursing and Health Professions is to prepare health care professionals who can provide excellent, culturally appropriate, collaborative care for diverse clients (individuals, families, groups, and communities) across the lifespan with special emphases on minority health and health disparities.

Vision:
The graduate of the Langston University School of Nursing and Health Professions is a scholarly health care professional who participates as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team and provides leadership in assuring that health care is culturally appropriate for clients across the lifespan, with focused attention on health disparities.

Purpose and Goals: 
Langston University School of Nursing and Health Professions students will:

  1. Develop beginning professional competence in an area study.
  2. Participate in a common core of experiences that will facilitate collaboration on
    interdisciplinary health care teams.
  3. Develop effective communication skills including appropriate use of technology.
  4. Demonstrate effective critical thinking skills.
  5. Demonstrate moral and ethical behavior in personal and professional environments.

  7. Value individual culture as well as the cultures of others.
  8. Develop intellectual curiosity and research skills to apply in personal and professional situations.

School Facts

The combined enrollment of LU’s three campuses (main campus and two Urban Centers) is above 2,700. Nearly 465 faculty and staff are employed at LU.  These numbers represent a very diverse group of individuals, including a wide variety of cultures as well as a significant number of international students and faculty. The variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds and world-wide geographic areas promotes a unique intercultural environment.

Langston University is a fully accredited higher education institution, authorized to offer undergraduate degrees in a number of disciplines and selected graduate degrees (Master of Education, Master of Rehabilitation Counseling, Master of Entrepreneurial Studies, and Doctor of Physical Therapy).  The University is approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association, the Oklahoma Board of Education, the Association of American Colleges, the Association for Collegiate Business Schools and Programs, the American Dietetic Association, the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, and the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.  The University is also approved by the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of State's Agency for International Development for the Training of Foreign Nationals, and the Veteran's Administration.
