MENTORING

The mentoring component has been established to help first-year students make a successful transition to college.  Each program year twenty-five first-year students are assigned to peer mentors.  This peer mentor component is designed to provide a supportive and nurturing experience for students, enhance the academic, intellectual, and personal development of students, provide support to ensure that students are academically successful, help students recognize the importance of staying in college and provide a structured setting for discussing and reflecting the college experience.

TUTORIAL SERVICES

The  program provides peer and professional tutoring to program participants.  Tutoring is provided on a one-on-one and or in group settings.  The tutorial services are designed to assist students in their understanding and comprehension of a subject and allow students to work with peers they can feel comfortable with  and receive additional assistance from professional faculty.  The desired outcome is to enhance the student's understanding of methods and concepts for maximum success in any given subject.  COME SEE US AT:  Gandy Hall, Room 318, or call  405-466-3326 for Te'sha Johnson, Tutor Coordinator.
