The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology is designed for graduates who
are aware of their place in the local community and the nation
and to motivate them to actively participate in the life of the
community and the nation. Communication in a diverse society
is a major emphasis. Students develop a critical attitude
toward historical and sociological facts. They study a view
of human behavior that focuses on the patterns of relationships
among individuals rather than solely on individuals themselves.
Also, they take a look at the scientific study of human societies
and human behavior in the groups that make up a society.
Students develop a perspective that attempts to build theories
to explain a wide variety of behavior and social problems.
Students
receive practical experience in research data analysis and are
exposed to a wide variety of agencies in the helping professions.
Research experience in the field can greatly increase each students
ability to understand social situations to successfully communicate
with people from different backgrounds. Sociological training
can also be applied in organizations of varied types: government
agencies, political campaigns, law firms, marketing firms, social
service agencies, communications corporations, non-profit organizations.
Graduates with sociological skills can make important contributions
